Tiego said he had a vision that he cannot ignore any more as it has been persisting for long.

Tiego told The Monitor that he had a vision, which his wife and many church members told him about.

“I had this vision of myself leading this huge church, which was certainly not UCCSA. I told my wife about it only for her to tell me she had the same vision in 2009.

We then kept it to ourselves until when I was serving in Broadhurst where more people started telling me about this vision,” he said.

The gospel singer said it was after an influx of messages from church members and Facebook friends about the vision they had of their leader. “I then consulted with the prophets at the church who explained the vision as I understood it,” he said. Tiego said he told church leaders before announcing to the congregation, and they told him they also had the vision hence they accepted his decision.

Tiego said he has been on sabbatical leave since January and only returned to bid farewell. “I took the leave to talk to God and I got a confirmation spirit that I should go ahead.

I bid my people farewell and the next thing will be recruiting members to the new congregation I will lead,” he said. Tiego would not share whether he had a name for the church.

The pastor, who also hosts a radio show on RB2 on Sundays was quick to point out that he had no issues with the church. “I didn’t have any conflict or objection against anything in the church. I love the church dearly.

I even saw myself as the president of the church one-day. My parents remain members of the UCCSA,” he said.

Pastor Tiego’s Full Farewell Speech

After a painful wrestling match with the Spirit of the Lord, I have finally come to the painful decision to give in to the will of God. I was born and bred in the UCCSA. Both my parents are members of the UCCSA. All my siblings have been baptised and raised by the UCCSA. My three sons have been baptised in the UCCSA.

I have allowed myself to learn from the likes of Revds Hambira, Dibeela, Mapitse, Simane, Dumi Mmualefe, K Kgerethwa, T Oduetse, Mokobi and many other servants of the Lord within the UCCSA family. I have been allowed to serve the church in many capacities.

All these made me the person I turned out to be. I’m thankful to the Lord for the ministry of these sons and daughters of the UCCSA. I still believe the UCCSA is a great church, and the church of choice for many who need to hear great sermons. God has given me a new assignment outside this great family. I have cried and my tears have dried.

My prayer was, let this cup pass me by, but God allowed his will to prevail. Now I’m at peace with the will of God. Brothers and sisters, I love you deeply from the depth of my heart, but it seems I have to love and leave you.

I will be resigning from the UCCSA tomorrow when the Synod Office opens. I wish the President and the entire membership of the UCCSA a blissful and blessed 50th anniversary celebrations, and beyond.
