The victory saw him become the most successful player in the competition with four gold medals. He first won it with Township Rollers when they beat ECCO City Greens and was on the score sheet in the 3-1 win. He then moved to Gaborone United (GU) and won the competition twice with them.

They first defeated BDF XI in the final before they beat city rivals, Rollers two seasons later becoming the only side to have won it twice. Sembowa later joined Jwaneng Galaxy when they gained promotion last season. He has been instrumental and helped them finish in the top eight bracket in their first season in the elite league.

On Saturday, Sembowa, despite being closely guarded by Orapa United captain, Thabang Mosige for the better part of the game, managed to snatch an important goal that put the game beyond Orapa’s reach.

He played the entire game upfront alongside Zambian striker, Christopher Musonda.

His goal came after Thabang Sesinyi incredibly controlled the ball before he beat his marker. He then laid a pass to Sembowa who calmly slotted past Orapa United goalkeeper, Mosimanegape Robert.

Before the game, Sembowa had won the competition three times together with his former teammate at GU, Ronald Chikomo who now plays for Orapa United. Chikomo won it two times with GU and once at his current team.

Speaking to journalists after the match, Sembowa said he was happy with the achievement but particularly excited that Galaxy had won their first major trophy in the Premier League.

Galaxy first took a 2-0 -lead in the second half, but allowed Orapa United to come back from behind. In extra time they scored two more goals despite playing with 10 men after midfielder, Olebogeng Malebye was sent off.

“Our strategy in the extra time was to absorb pressure from Orapa and then hit them on counter attacks and I am happy it worked,” Sembowa said.
