Mabaila, who has in the past been accused of using his Mabaila Foundation to lure voters, is not about to stop as he disclosed his intentions to build a library in Mogoditshane for the residents.

Mabaila made the announcement on Saturday at Solomon Dihutso grounds where he had organised a health and hygiene symposium. “We have been helping schools as we observed that they are struggling.

Results have been dwindling and we intend to do more. We are going to build a library which will be named after one of elders who contributed to growth of education in the village.

It is just the beginning, more will come,” he said. The symposium was followed by a ceremony to hand over the refurbished Post Office.

“We are here today to handover the Post Office which we painted, built a shade and ablution facilities.  We are also handing over new ablution blocks we built at Mahatlane Kgotla. We are also donating five bicycles to the office of the Member of Parliament Sedirwa Kgoroba to be used for fighting crime,” he said.

He also donated blankets to the elderly stating that 50 of them were from former president Ian Khama. The philanthropist further issued a P10, 000 cheque to Morupisi R7 Group Foundation which was founded by Permanent Secretary to the President Carter Morupisi and his wife Pinny.

Botswana Post chief commercial officer Cliffford Lekoko expressed gratitude at Mabaila’s gesture. “Our post offices are very old.

We have been trying to refurbish them to make them user friendly, but we cannot do it on our own.  We thank Mabaila Foundation for the great work they did.

We hope that more organisations will come forward and assist us,” he said.

Lekoko also apologised to pensioners for late payments of their old age pension. He promised them that the situation would be normalised in no time. For his part, deputy permanent secretary to the President, Ernest Phiri, speaking on behalf of Morupisi encouraged attendants to exercise to keep fit.  “We applaud Mabaila for this event. It is important that we exercise to keep our bodies in shape. It also slows ageing.

It is also important to eat balanced meals and also have enough sleep everyday,” he said, while also applauding Mabaila for helping the Mogoditshane community.
