The final pits Debswana-backed teams; Orapa United and Jwaneng Galaxy.

Despite the two sides relatively new and still growing their support base, some city dwellers regardless of alignment, have promised to turn up for the encounter. Mmegi Sport carried out random interviews around the city centre to measure the euphoria.

Keamogetse Pring, 28, a Francistown bus rank marshall and Orapa United supporter said he has no doubt the stadium will be packed to the rafters. “It’s going to be an epic battle, but Galaxy is our younger brother and they are learning to walk. We will beat them with a respectable 1-0 score line.

“I have a feeling the crowd will surpass the 16,000 target, it is an open secret people here love football.” Tiro Keosaletse, 34, said he is happy that Mascom has reduced the prices of the tickets. However, he complained about tickets reaching them late.

“I would have long gotten my ticket the problem we still face is tickets come late. Otherwise we are happy with the prices. They will encourage many more people to go to the stadium.”

“For obvious reasons as a Rollers supporter, I want Galaxy to win.

I am going out to support Mascom and Galaxy. It’s (going to be) 2-1 for Galaxy within 90 minutes.”

The 24-year-old Ookeditse Dikgang said the staging of the Top 8 cup in Francistown has inspired his local side, TAFIC.

“We owe our success in the First Division this season to the Top 8 cup. They have inspired my team with the games they have brought here. We want to see ourselves someday rallying behind Matjimenyenga in matches of this magnitude.

“We must fill up the stadium to give Mascom a reason to keep coming back until we (TAFIC) arrive at the final. This weekend I am rallying behind Galaxy. I see Galaxy beating Orapa 1-0.”

Meanwhile, Boteti is planning to relocate to the city. According to Orapa United spokesperson, Tebatso Hule tickets are selling like fat cakes in their camp. He said they are planning to bring over 10 buses to Francistown.

“Our plans are underway. Other companies here, Bharon Construction, GKT and Clean Services have also released their buses to ferry supporters.

We have over 10 buses that will get people from Xhumo, Mopipi, Letlhakane, Mosu, Mokubilo and Orapa. We will continue selling tickets and our mechandise in Francistown.”
