The Francistown side was demoted from the BTC Premiership at the end of the season but they do not want to go down without a fight as they are eager to take Chiefs out of the top flight.

Chiefs have laughed off TAFIC’s challenge, with the club’s general manager, Clifford Mogomotsi saying Matjimenyenga should instead prepare for the First Division.“What a big laugh (TAFIC’s issue). TAFIC should prepare themselves for life in the First Division,” Mogomotsi said.

TAFIC spokesperson, Warrant Kolola said they are still waiting for a response from the Botswana Premier League (BPL) on the matter. Chief executive officer, Thabo ‘Styles’ Ntshinogang had told Mmegi Sport soon after TAFIC lodged the case through their lawyers, that they should instead, channel the matter to the Botswana Football Association (BFA).

While Kolola, yesterday said they had not received any response from the BPL, Ntshinogang however said they responded to the club’s lawyers, who are the ones who had lodged the case. “TAFIC has not written to us, but their lawyers have. We have responded to their lawyers,” Ntshinogang said.

Kolola had said they expected a response from the BPL within seven days, which elapsed yesterday.

He said they could only consider dropping or proceeding further with the case once they receive valid reasons from the BPL or BFA.

BFA public relations and marketing manager, Tumo Mpatane said they had not received any case from TAFIC.

“TAFIC are yet to officially file a case with the BFA. They put it before the BPL, but we advised them to do so through the BFA, which they have not done,” Mpatane said. TAFIC argued that it was not Chiefs, the sporting club that had paid the affiliation fees, but the Trust, and therefore, the club must be expelled. After internal wars, at some stage, Chiefs was run under a Trust but is now under a Society.
