Trench coats, bomber jackets dominates 2018 winter fashion

For some people, winter has compromised their social life because they do not have warm and fashionable clothes to keep up their image. For some it is even worse because the blankets are the only things that can give them refuge from this unbearable weather.

For those who do not have enough blankets, they always talk of seeking ‘kobo e nang le matlho.’ But sharing bed with someone to keep warm is not the only solution as there are new and affordable fashion trends on place. Surprisingly ‘bo-malome’ (sa the Chinese shops are known as) sells warm and fashionable clothes at affordable prizes at a few more renowned clothing shops.

As it is a norm, every year brings forth a unique fashion trend. This year we see trench coats and bomber jackets dominating the local fashion trends amongst both genders. These warm clothes do not only keep warm but also enable the fashion fanatics to keep their fashion statement upgraded. These are a must have.

It has no doubt coats have become one of the most preferred pieces of clothing in winter for both women and men this year. The best feature of this type of winter outfit is that one can mix and match the coats with different dresses, skirts and pants.

The other advantage of these coats is that they can be mixed with different sweaters, shirts and jerseys to give you a new look every time you wear them.

These coats and jackets are found in different designs, shapes, length, sizes and colours. In the past few years, women were the only ones wearing these coats in large numbers but this year we are seeing men changing the game. Men are also joining the fashion trend stronger and bolder. They are seen wearing these jackets in different occasions even at work.

The coats and bomber jackets have become staple of both men and women’s fashion. The trench coats do not only help in attaining good fashionable statement but are both rain and wind resistant as well. The uppermost feature of these garments is that they are extremely warm at all time. That is why their fashion trend has also being passed on to children.

Another advantage of these coats is that they come in a wide variety of styles, sizes, materials and prices making them an investment to fashion guru.

In her article, The Classy Rise of The Trench Coat of 2015, Linda Rodriguez wrote that a trench coat was not exactly invented for use during the war that gave it its name, a war spent mired in muddy, bloody trenches across Europe. But, she writes, it was during the First World War that this now iconic garment took the shape that we recognise today, a form that remains startlingly current despite being more than 100 years old.

“The trench coat is, in some ways, emblematic of the unique moment in history that World War I occupies, when everything – from rigidly held social structures to military organization to fashion – was in upheaval; it is both a product of this time as well as a symbol of it,” she noted
