Mingo Touch quits music to serve God

A career spanning over 11 years and five albums under his belt, Mingo Touch has seen it all and done it all. He now feels it is time to say goodbye to an industry he has been a loyal servant to.
On Saturday, Mingo Touch announced on stage that he would be quitting music to focus on his ministerial role at the Christ Embassy located at the KB Mall in Gaborone.
“It is time to say goodbye. I have been around and would like to thank all those who have supported me throughout my music career.
Thank you all for your support,” he said.
Mingo Touch, whose real names are Aminoni Mujokeri, told Arts & Culture that he has taken up a role at the church as the Minister of Gospel.
“I will not be performing at night clubs or music festivals.
I have decided to focus on ministering gospel through music at the church,” he added.
Mingo who was briefly imprisoned last year said that he used to enjoy playing in front of large crowds at nightclubs, but that has faded over time.
“I don’t enjoy that anymore. I want to serve the Lord for now,” he said.
The reformed young man had previously emphasised that he had finally found God and wanted to release music that goes along with his transformation.
The 28-year-old Moroka-born star shot to prominence in 2005 under Black Money Makers when he released Tshaba Tsotsi, which became an instant hit.
However, Mingo Touch switched from kwaito to gospel music after cutting ties with long-time mentor, Vee Mampeezy early this year, and launched his debut gospel album titled It’s All About Jesus at Stanbic Bank Piazza on March 10, 2018. It was during the same show that he also proposed to his long-time sweetheart, Unami Katse on stage.
His single from the album called Ke Tuka Molelo was one of the gospel hits enjoyed over the past festive season.
He has released hits such as Tshaba Tsotsi, Tobeletsa, Shetla Biri, Ngwaga yo Mosha, Ke Mozezuru, Somewhere and many more, which made him a household name.
