Education and Training providers applying for accreditation are required by law to design procedures and rules for the protection of enrolled learners; Learner Protection Policies, which they submit with the application for learning programme accreditation.

According to BQA, Manager Customer Service, Bakani Thothe, education providers are required to inform the learner of the detail of the programme to allow them to make informed decision. He further said that there should be provision for refund in instances where the ETP is unable, for whatever reason, to teach the learner until there complete.

He emphasised the importance of identify alternate providers to allow for transfers in cases of revocation of accreditation, in part or in whole, disaster, closure or other reasons.

Higher Education and Training Providers welcomed the development. They acknowledged the importance of learner engagement and protection.
