BotswanaPost, Debswana, Brand Botswana and Btv are some of the major partners to show support recently.

Botswana Netball Association (BONA) president, Tebogo Lebotse-Sebego earlier this year announced they were still battling to raise a nearly P20 million budget deficit.

But yesterday she sang a better tune, applauding the commitment from sponsors.

“It is encouraging to be getting commitment from sponsors. We continue to engage with other potential sponsors, especially in the security and transport space as that is where we are lagging behind,” Lebotse-Sebego said.

It appears there has been an improvement with some companies heeding the call to support Africa’s first netball World event.

Brand Botswana were expected to announce their arrangement with the netball Local Organising Committee last night while today, Btv will launch a broadcasting arrangement with the organisers. Debswana has thus far been the major contributor with a P1.2 million injection.

Hosts Botswana are in Pool C out of four groups of five where they face Cook Islands, Jamaica, Malaysia and Uganda.  South Africa, Uganda and Zimbabwe are Africa’s other representatives in the global showpiece, which will see 20 countries competing.
