AHFI Celebrates Art Through Film

The organisation was established in 2013 with the aim of nurturing talents amongst youth not only in Botswana but also in countries like South Africa and India.

At the beginning of the movie was a brief description and background of the organisation.

Kwezi, one of the active members of the organisation stated that they have been working with sponsors like the University of Botswana, Duma FM, Botswana Society for Arts and collaborating with the Indian Alliance. She went on to explain that in Botswana the AHFI’s themes are HIV/AIDS, mental health and hypertension.

Two films were being projected to the jocund audience that attended the movie night with the first one titled Changing the World.

The event was part of a one-week workshop that was focused mainly on the Tsholofelong Old Naledi youth who have a great desire to see their talents maturing.

The Old Naledi youth was engaged in community service activities such as painting of tuckshops around the area.

Everyone who attended the event had an opportunity to focus on their area of artistic interest, like acting, poem recitations, playing marimba and singing.

The second film to be broadcast was focused on using street art as a way of engaging the public, as it was the most accessible form of engagement. It was titled One Wall At A Time. After the showcasing of the two films, the audience had the opportunity to field questions.
