The Mabalane and Kgakgathi singer told Showbiz that she was working on a new album titled Roots. She released her last album titled Story of My Life in 2009.

It was recorded at Sinewave Records and produces by Qbio.

Her first album titled Black Woman was released in 2006. It had hit tracks that gave the singer a limelight through the likes of Mabalane and Kgakgathi.

“I’m currently working on an new album. Actually, I am done recording the album. We are just on the
final stages of mixing and mastering it. It will be released sometime this year,” she said.

Dikobe said she was working with her producer Godfrey Seleso on the album. However, she pointed out that she is not signed under any record label and was doing the album on her own. She said Roots was produced under Seleso’s production company called MoeMusic.

“I have a new sound. I now play Afro contemporary soul. I decided to change my sound
because I have matured and I wanted my sound to mature with me,” she said.

Meanwhile Dikobe, who relocated to South Africa to pursue her musical studies in jazz, said she got positive feedback from her SA fans from the few places that she has performed at.  She has been staying in SA for almost six years now.

Dikobe will be at Chez Nicolas Lounge on April 30. She will perform her old hits and will also introduce songs from her new album. There will also be guest performances by Eugene Jackson and Samba T.

The event that is dubbed ‘Encore with Helen Dikobe’ will start at 5pm. Entrance fee is P100 per person.
