BDP Raises Millions For 2019 General Elections

This time around, the party does not want any stone to be left unturned. The BDP has already started with its campaigns and preparations for the 2019 general elections.

 Some of the members who made pledges include former president Ian Khama with P1 million, Satar Dada P1 million, deputy treasure general Jackdish Shah P1 million, President Mokgweetsi Masisi P250,000, Vice President Slumber Tsogwane P250,000, BDP secretary general, Mpho Balopi P500,000 amongst others.

The money would be used for campaigns in all the 57 constituencies to retain and win some from the opposition parties. 

Already the BDP has finished the first lap of primary elections in opposition-held constituencies and they will be finishing the last lap of primaries in August.

Some of the resolutions that the BDP extraordinary congress took are that government should consider lifting the wildlife hunting ban, government should review compensation of victims of wildlife destruction, government should consider reserving award of cleaning and security services contracts to 100% citizen-owned businesses, government should consider exempting old age pensioners (65 years and above) from renewal of National Identity Cards, government be commended for its effort in improving relationships with trade unions, the extraordinary congress appreciates that the Office of the President, Vice President, Ministry of Presidential Affairs and Public Administration, the Ministry of Employment Labour and Skills Development have consulted with trade unions and are committed to continue consultations.
