Three BCP councillors lose Ramotswa primary election

The three who lost are Kgabo Mabotseng of Magopane ward, Kalaote Lemogang of Mothubakwane ward and Seitei Lawrence of Kgosing ward. 

In Magopane ward, Mabotseng received 181 votes while Ben Rantuana beat him with a solid 460.  Mothubakwane ward’s Mogotsi Tirelo got 171 votes after challenging Lemogang, but he too was beat at the polls by Joseph Mosomane with 228 votes. 

In Kgosing ward Sorinyana Thekiso beat the lot with 218 votes while the challenged Lawrence got 94, Molete Patrick 27, and Moagi Thomas 76.

The three councillors that lost were seeking a third term and only Mabotseng said he would not protest though he does not accept the results. 

At Lesetlhana ward James Nthomeng got 28 votes while David Nkateng got 11. At Kelemogile ward Seitiso Ditlhong won with 269 votes and Ramaitiso Albert Sebitso lost with 99. 

In Otse South, Helsinki Mpuang got 220 votes beating Ginger Pountwa who got only 49. In Taung ward Oageng Masie received 50 votes losing to Nawa Karabo who got 77 and also beating Sebetso Keogotsitse who received 73 votes.

Meanwhile, the area’s Member of Parliament, Samuel Rantuana (related to abovementioned Rantuana) went unchallenged.  The primary elections had also attracted quite a good number of party members.

The BCP has seven sitting councillors in the SEDC and out of that number two did not go for election while the other two came out of the polls unscathed.
