According to Matseka, she got the inspiration from the South African Hospitality industry where she found that one could turn their own homes into lodges and generate income.

“My love for serving people also contributed to the establishment of this lodge. Foremost, while travelling I got inspired from the guest lodges and talking to other women who owned lodges, made it easier for me to be inspired and started this guesthouse,” she said.

Matseka said that she then consulted her husband who is her partner in the business and they decided to buy a BHC house in Block 7 and turned it into a guesthouse.

The guesthouse, which opened its doors in October 2015 currently, has five double bedrooms, all ensuite with one executive suite. All the rooms have Wi-Fi, air-conditioner, mini fridge and DSTV.

According to Matseka, she is very pleased with the reception she got since they opened doors. “I think maybe it’s because of the location because it is close to airport junction mall, game city mall, or even CBD as well as many restaurants. Our customers also come back and refer other clients because of the hospitality they get here,” she said.

Further she noted that she intends to grow the business and expand in future by opening more branches in Francistown and other places across the country.

Currently, Yana Guesthouse has a staff compliment of five and they intend to add more after expanding. “We offer breakfast and other meals can be served per customers’ request. We also host parties, celebrations in our garden and an addition will be a pool, which we are currently constructing it,” she said.
