Black Motion headlined the festival in 2016 while another South African artist, Oskido headlined last year’s event, which was still under Dladleng Entertainment Centre.

This year’s festival is called 2018 Toyota Kalahari Botswana 1000 Desert Race Music fest and it would be held under the hashtag Go Tloba Busy.

Besides the foreign act, the festival will include the hottest newcomer Motlha who has just successfully hosted his show last weekend at Ditshupo Hall. Motlha who is expected to release his new album soon will accompany Vee Mampeezy and Kast amongst others. To top it all, Franco whose album mene mene tekel is still fresh on the shelves will also perform on the night. DJs who will keep the Mantshwabisi revellers busy include Ricky Lamar, DJ King, DJ Khenzo, DJ Fondo Fire, and La Puto.

Botswana Tourism Organisation (BTO) sanctioned Colours of Sound to host this festival.

BTO Spokesperson Keitumetse Setlang told Arts & Culture that they are not sponsoring this event but rather the company won a public tender that was put out. She said previously their former partner KBL brought their own stakeholders to host the event. But this time around, Setlang said they decided to give others a chance.

The festival capitalises on the revelers who will be in the mining town for the desert race. Sponsors for the event included Yarona FM, Liquorama and Computicket.
