Present at the ceremony were the Vice President, Slumber Tsogwane, members of the CACB, representatives from different Chinese community companies and invited guests.

Giving the background information of the Association, Miles Nan stated that the CACB is a non-Govemental and non-profit making association formed by a group of Chinese entrepreneurs. Nan mentioned that since 2012, the association has donated 1,000 blankets worth P150,000 to the Presidential Charitable Appeal and in 2013 they donated P135,000 to SOS Children’s village in Tlokweng.

He also mentioned that the relationship with the SOS Children’s village in Tlokweng was firm as other Chinese organisations, including the Confucius Institute at the University of Botswana, an institute responsible for Mandarin language studies and culture, came on board to support their efforts.

Nan said he knows that many people are familiar to the warm winter blanket donation project initiated by the Chinese community and that it has lasted so many years since 2012.

He also believes that all things in the world change everyday but the love that one puts into people’s heart will never change. Nan also stated that the association has now grown as close to 200 people and that it was with joy that they donated 2,500 blankets which is close to half a million pula this year.

Nan urged everyone, especially foreigners to take an active part by donating what they can give out and said that their donation may not fundamentally change the recipients’ living conditions, but the love that comes with giving will surely make them feel cared for and loved.
