Quit in huff: Bantsi

Former president, Thari Mooketsi of Lefika Athletics Club is unchallenged for the presidency position while Ipolokeng Ramatshaba from Mmadinare Club wants to bounce back as public relations officer, but faces challenge from Lulu Basinyi of Palapye Athletics Club. Kenneth Kikwe of Orapa Club is unchallenged for the position of vice president. Raymond Phale (Francistown Club) and Kelebogile Mogapi (Serowe Club) would battle for the secretary general position.  The athletics body was thrown off the rails when three members; president, Moses Bantsi, vice president, Ronald Masalila and secretary general, Kebaitse Legojane resigned during an annual general meeting three weeks back. Public relations officer, Charles Keikotlhae also threw in the towel a week later. BAA treasurer, Brian Mosweu told Mmegi Sport yesterday that elections are set for April 1. He said the nomination list has been sent to all affiliates. When asked why Mooketsi is making a come back despite leaving office after internal infighting, Mosweu said it was the decision of the affiliates to bring him back. He said there was nothing anybody could do. “Let us wait for the meeting and if they elect this leadership into office, we have no choice but to accept the outcome of the elections. Affiliates have the power on who they want in office,” he said.
