He said UDC leadership cannot keep on ignoring what the masses or party members are saying because the poor outcome reflects on them. Some affiliates of UDC, especially members of Botswana National Front (BNF) and Botswana Congress Party (BCP) at Moshupa/Manyana had vowed that they would not cast vote for the coalition despite their leadership efforts in trying to convince them to support Botswana Movement for Democracy (BMD) candidate, Jonathan Sethono. Their contention was that the BMD does not have presence within Moshupa/Manyana constituency. “UDC leadership is in denial. It is time they tell people the truth of what is happening. Why can’t they tell people or members the status of the parties so that some problems may be ironed out?

If it goes on like this, people will lose hope on it and opt to vote for Alliance for Progressives (AP).

They need to solve their constituencies and wards allocations before 2019. Otherwise they will get this kind of results in 2019,” Sesa said. BMD national organising secretary, Freddy Ramodise said their efforts to get support from UDC Moshupa/Manyana committee, which comprises some BNF and BCP members, have failed. “We met several times with the committee, but they told us that they cannot give us support. We had our last meeting again on today (Saturday) but we failed again. “The BCP/BNF members who gave us support were the ones who are not staying in this area. Campaign team has really worked hard because we managed to convince some to vote for us. I think there is need for intervention to be done in this area,” Ramodise said. He said they will write a report to their party leadership about all what had transpired during the campaigns until the day of elections. Ramodise said it will be up to their leadership to decide on whether they would engage some UDC affiliates or not.

Recently, BMD wrote to the two parties leadership calling on them to ask their members, especially in Moshupa to help in the campaign. It had been very clear that the BDP would win with a big margin since UDC was divided and failing to resolve its problems in the area.
