The final has pitted two diamond town mining sides, Jwaneng Galaxy and defending champions, Orapa United against each other.

LOC vice chairperson, Moreo Mosienyane said they hope to achieve their target.

“We are looking at a total of 16,000 spectators. I think that is a fair ambition,” he told journalists in Gaborone yesterday.

The Botswana Premier League acting chief executive officer, Thabo Ntshinogang said tickets have already been distributed to the two teams to start selling at different outlets around the country.

He said this year they have about 18 companies in Francistown who have pledged to buy tickets in bulk for their employees and clients.

“We had approached them with the idea. We hope we will get more companies on board. The idea is to galvanise people into buying more tickets for the final,” Ntshinogang said.

He said they have taken a decision to give free extra tickets for any company that buys 50 tickets and 10 free tickets for any that buy 100 tickets for its employees or clients. Tickets for the grand stand cost P40.

The east stand tickets are selling at P30 while the north/south stand’s tickets cost P20.

Meanwhile, security manager for this year’s edition, Mpho Sebako assured spectators of tight security in the final. He said spectators should not worry about their safety or that of their property in and out of the stadium.

“We have secured 120 security personnel from private companies for this game. We have also secured four dogs to compensate for the personnel that will be spread around the venue,” he said.

Sebako said, as is the norm, the police officers will also be deployed at the stadium.
