The BNF CC said going forward they would not hold primary elections in areas where they participated in bye-elections in a space of eight months and less.

Other constituencies that have asked for extension of primary elections in their area include Thamaga/Kumakwane and Gaborone South.

The two constituencies were supposed to hold their primaries this weekend.

When briefing the media yesterday the BNF secretary general Moeti Mohwasa said that at Thamaga/Kumakwane “the members said they want to finish with negotiations for ward allocations first. The election committee have agreed to that while Gaborone South have not finished with voters roll verification and therefore the election committee have afforded them that opportunity”.

He said constituencies which would have primaries this week include one ward at Bonnington North, Ngami, Palapye, Francistown West, Tlokweng, Francistown Eat and Tonota.

Mohwasa said other council seats in Gaborone Bonnington North constituency are not challenged.
