The queen of disco is back

Sekgoma, otherwise known as Lindah in the music industry, has done it once gain with an eight-track album, which is expected to reflect the growth of the former Cheek-to-Cheek backing vocalist and dancer.
The 41-year-old Serowe-born demonstrates what she is made of in the first track called Piracy. With the five minutes song, Lindah pleads, talking about how piracy has killed the industry. She also sends out a message to Batswana to stop the act and pleads with President Mokgweetsi Masisi to assist fight piracy.
With her deep and yet big voice, Lindah controls her vocal cords very well in the song and strikes a good balance between the instrumentals.
“Tota music should create jobs. I wish to build a centre to train upcoming artists in the industry to create better musicians. And that can only happen if we stopped this piracy issue. Track one is a plea to all including the President to fight piracy,” Lindah said in an interview with Arts & Culture. Piracy in Botswana has been rife, as the rapid progression of technology has made it even easier for people to infringe on copyrighted works.
She goes on to show her versatility in the song titled This is me, when she sings about who she is and where she comes from. Track four in the album, Bomenemene, is a true reflection of Lindah’s maturity and progression. Having been a backing vocalist of many Disco legends such as South African Patricia Majalisa and the late Thabile Mazolwane, Lindah has obviously gained some valuable experience, which is evident in the song. When listening to the rhythm and instruments of the song, one would be for forgiven for mistaken her to Majalisa.
The song is likely to be a hit amongst local disco lovers. The other songs in the album include title tract Forgive, My Son, Roma Nna, Dinaledi and Wisdom, which are also good songs to listen to. That was evident recently when Lindah performed at the BOMU carnival music festival, which was held at Trekkers Garden in Mogoditshane. Her performance was unique and she seemed to be the first artist to captivate the revellers in what was a rather dull event. “With this album, I want to celebrate myself and for the people to celebrate themselves and life too when they listen to it,” she added.
With five albums under her belt, she stated that she believes she has grown and has the experience to produce good music. Her music journey started in 2004 when she released Motlalepula. She later followed that with Playboy and My Number One in 2006 and 2008 respectively. Her last project was in six years ago in 2012 when she dropped My family. In her music career, Lindah has worked with several artists such as the late Madoda Malotwana, Majalisa, Mazolwane, and Judith Sefhako.
She currently dabbles as a backing vocalist for Johnny Mokhali.
