BMD, BNF At It Again

This time the two parties are feuding over Lentsweletau- Mmopane constituency. At a press conference on Thursday, the BMD announced Lucky Tshireletso as its candidate for the constituency.
On the other side, the BNF believe they should be given the constituency and want to meet with the BMD over it.
BNF spokesperson, Justin Hunyepa said they were surprised that the BMD have announced a name while they have written to them calling for talks.
“I am not aware that they have already identified a candidate.
We have written to them requesting a meeting so that we can resolve the issue amicably. Even Moshupa- Manyana, we still have to talk about it before 2019,” he said.
BMD has already announced that Jonathan Sethono, who was defeated by Karabo Gare of the Botswana Democratic Party (BDP), will contest in the constituency again in 2019.
Hunyepa said they would not allow the situation that prevailed in Moshupa-Manyana where the BMD ended up fielding a candidate before they could talk.
UDC president, Duma Boko differed with Hunyepa stating that the constituency belonged to BMD and was lent to BNF in 2014.
Meanwhile, the BMD said there was nothing to discuss.
“We have made it clear to the UDC that we will not discuss anything regarding constituency allocations. We are done and are only focusing on starting our campaigns.
“We are just waiting for the parties to allocate us wards where they have been allocated as we have done that in our constituencies,” BMD spokesperson, Rasina Rasina said.
Rasina said they would, this week send their secretary general to follow up and find out why parties have not allocated them wards.
“Each party is to take 40% and allocate the rest amongst partner parties.
We await those allocations and they are delaying us to start campaigns,” he said.
