Gunners, Nare part ways ahead of Rollers tie

Nare’s mobile phones were unreachable, but his resignation did not come as a surprise following his touching speech at the club’s former chairperson, Phenyo Gothaang’s funeral a fortnight ago. Nare hinted at the funeral that he had doubts whether he will continue as the head coach especially after the death of Gothaang.

He said the wall that he had been leaning on had fallen and doubted if he would stay for long with the Peleng side. “I am the one who invited Gothaang to come and lead this team. He has passed on and that means the wall that I have been leaning on at Extension Gunners has fallen. I do not know if this also means my time with Gunners has ended,” he said.

Extension Gunners publicity officer, Edwin Mabapa said their office was not in a position to share any details concerning the matter.

“Our office is not in a position to share any information concerning the issue. I cannot confirm neither deny because we do not have details pertaining to the issue at this point,” he said. Quizzed on the issue of reported advertised vacancies at Extension Gunners, Mabapa briefly said he is yet to see the adverts.

Despite the glitches within the Gunners camp, the incumbent acting chairman, Hennel Kaisara said last week that he will ensure business runs as usual despite Gothaang’s passing on. On the field, Gunners have collected 29 points after 20 games and they are on position six.

It is not yet clear who will be the coach when they face Rollers at the National Stadium tomorrow.
