BCA Drills Northern Primary Schools On Cricket

He said they will teach the trainees the basics of the game such as bowling, bating and fielding. 'We have engaged children from various primary schools in Francistown where we will conduct specialised coaching on the aspect of the game,' said Chipanga.

He explained that the idea is to create a wide pool of talent to be nurtured to feed the national team. 'Our target is to come up with a development team by August 2010 and have as many teachers undergoing courses of this nature.

We will also donate some equipment to each and every school in our development programme,' he said. Chapinga appealed to the Francistown City Council to provide land to construct cricket facilities with funds from International Cricket Council (ICC).

He stated that they want to have as many youngsters from the north playing cricket at a higher level. He said they are still faced with a shortage of equipment and facilities at schools.

He hailed BCA vice chairperson Prafur Jog for initiating the training programme and Farouk Sardar for availing the Francistown Sports and Recreation Club for cricket.
