�Thieving� gardener yet to report break-in

Nkomazana, a former gardener who is facing several counts including allegedly stealing P3.9 million from his late boss, during his previous mention told the court that there had been a break-in at his rented house in Gaborone Block 7.
He had also pleaded with the Court to assist him get his three bank cards, cheque books and a cellphone (Samsung S7) that were confiscated by the Investigating Officer (IO) when he was arrested.
Called to speak on the alleged break-in and the confiscated items, IO detective senior superintendent Sergeant Marapo told the Court that they could not give him back his phones.
“When we arrested the accused person, we confiscated his Standard Chartered Bank card for the account we suspected crime proceeds were deposited into,” he said.
“We also seized his cell phone which we suspected was bought with the proceeds. We also confiscated the birth certificate, Omang, passport and driver’s licence in the names of Khaya Bheki Mazibuku and a cheque book in the names of Bhekizwe Nkomazana,” he said.
Marapo said they had also confiscated the remote to the gate of Nkomazana’s rented house because there was no electricity at Nkomazana’s house and also officers had to go and search. He said they handed the keys to the owner of the house.
The 35-year-old Zimbabwean, who was employed as a gardener, has been in police custody since he was nabbed along with three Batswana, after allegedly illegally obtaining an Omang and masquerading as his late boss to steal at least P3.9 million from the deceased.
The accused has been charged with theft common, official corruption, obtaining by false pretences and giving false information to a Government officer alongside eight Batswana.
