Jazz X Change is a live music performance platform, which has hosted, groomed and opened doors for various local artists such as Sereetsi and the Natives, Kabo Leburu, Perfect Pitch, Abigail Isa, A2J, Clyde Chisale and Mpho Sebina.

The last Jazz X Change session was held last year and it has since gone silent. It is set to start in April at its new venue, Masa Square Hotel.

“We decided to bring it back because we noticed that there’s still no platform in Botswana where new and forgotten artists have the opportunity to have their own show and not just open for the well known artists. We also brought it back because the fans asked for it,” said Tebbie Gaetsewe, the Jazz X Change event coordinator.

The first performance act at the Jazz X Change upon its return will be The Nex’Tones, a band that comprises of Mandisa ‘Josiah King’ Mabuthoe and Ngoni ‘Upmost aka myBruthazkeepa’ Tapiwa.

She noted that upon its return they will continue with the their objectives and tradition of training musicians on stage etiquette, delivery, expand the musicians’ market areas through exchange programme with other countries which could result in them signing international recording contracts and provide variety and entertainment to Jazz enthusiasts on a regular basis in an up market setting.

“At the moment the show will more or less be the same, but as the months go on we will be trying out new things. The first show will be during Jazz Day, so that one will definitely be different to the others.” The event has since moved from its initial venue at Cresta President Hotel to Masa Square Hotel.

The event, which is hosted on every last Sunday of the month, has attracted a wide audience from different backgrounds. Vocalist Vivien Dakpo is amongst one of the artists that are set to perform at Jazz X Change.

Gaetsewe noted that artists that are interested in staging performances at Jazz X Change should contact them at info@rmcmarketing.net/inquiry@rmcmarketing.net.
