Ditiro Burunyana Rantalajwe stepped in on February to fill in the vacant post at Mabutsane Sub-Council and he is expected to be sworn at the Southern District full council meeting billed for March 20.

Rantalajwe has been a staunch member of the ruling party and he served as a councillor for Mokhomma ward from 2004 to 2014.

He also served as the first chairman of Mabutsane Sub-Council for seven years after its establishment. He lost his council seat to Umbrella for Democratic Change (UDC) during the 2014 general elections.

He is however been instrumental as the party’s constituency chairperson from 2015 to 2016. Rantalajwe returned to council as a specially elected councillor and he will serve the remaining three year before general elections.

Rantalajwe confirmed in an interview that he received a letter of appointment on February 14 and he immediately resumed his duties as a councillor.

He acknowledged the second chance and said he was ready to serve his community like he did before.
