The event dubbed Summer Jamboree, which strictly hosts local musicians, is set to debut on March 25 at Stanbic Bank Piazza. The event is also meant to bid farewell to the summer season which will be unfolding in a few weeks.

“We have decided to commemorate and give opportunity to celebrate local artists by setting up an all local gig where the artists will headline and stage performances.

The objective of the event was not only to celebrate summer but also to push local talent to the forefront,” said Yarona FM station manager, Kelly Ramputswa.

The upcoming event has a line-up of local urban artists that are currently topping the charts. She noted that since Yarona FM is an urban and youthful radio station this will not only be a music related gig but it will celebrate the respective urban cultures.

“The Jamboree will be a live event where people are able to see the musicians who play music on our radio station, while feeling and seeing the fashion we speak about and tasting the food we feature on our shows.

As a youth radio station, we have an obligation not only to entertain our demographic but to also help promote youth business and that is what the Summer Jamboree is all about.”

The Summer Jamboree’s aim is to attract a young, vibey crowd that appreciates art, food, fashion and music. Also present during the event will be free WI-FI for the revelers to connect on the Internet while at the gig.

With the event having a summer theme Ramputswa noted that they selected a semi-closed area unlike an open area due to the changing weather climates such as the recent rains.

The performance line-up comprises of a mixture of old and young urban artists such as Mr O, Kenzo, DJ Chrispin, MMP Family, Ban T, Veezo and Amantle Brown to mention just a few.
