Prosecution Wants Accused�s Blood Samples

 

Keolopile Moshotle, Oabile Dibobo, Tshepo Ntusa and Tshiamo Morolong are accused of robbing and murdering Jacob Bogatsu whilst fellow accused Batshani Montsho and Mphoyaone Sedio are alleged to have been involved in the robbery offences that happened on October 30, 2016 near the Caltex filling station and the Zoom Nightclub in Gaborone.

State prosecutor, Inspector Motlalepula Selelo told the Court that since all the accused are out on bail, the Investigating Officer has requested to take them for blood extraction. She said the blood samples will be subjected to a DNA exercise to see if it matches the samples collected at the scene.

“All are out on bail. However, the Investigating Officer has requested an order to take accused 2 (Moshotle), 3 (Dibobo), 4 (Ntusa) and 5 (Morolong) for blood extraction,” said Selelo. In the previous Court appearance, the prosecutor had told the Court that the matter was due for handing over to the Directorate of Public Prosecution (DPP) for prosecution.

She revealed that investigations were complete and they were ready to refer the docket to the DPP. According to the particulars of the case, the accused on or about October 30, 2016 at or near Maruapula Caltex Filling Station  stole a black Samsung Duos cellphone valued at P1,500 belonging to Bogatsu using violence before Moshotle, Dibobo, Ntusa and Morolong allegedly murdered him.

In the same charge, Montsho and Sedio face two counts of robbery. In count one, they are alleged to have acted together with common purpose and in concert armed with a knife, stole a black Samsung E222 cellphone valued at P440.

The two used actual violence against Botshelo Selabe to prevent resistance. In count two, the accused stole a black Nokia cellphone valued P200 and P90 cash using violence against Patrick Jautse.

The accused have been ordered to return to court on June 20, 2017.
