Botho University sues students

The university also wants the students interdicted and restrained from causing damage to the University property, its staff, students or members of the public present on their premises.

They also want the Botswana Police Service to be directed to assist them in enforcing that order.

Meanwhile, in her founding affidavit, Pro Vice Chancellor-Employability and Development of Botho, Priya Iyer stated that they were seeking to exercise their rights, that they believe they have the rights to protect their property, the

school’s premises, students and staff from violent conduct by demonstrating students

“It is in the premises of all the above, that this Honourable Court is called upon to intervene urgently and assist the applicant in protecting its property as well as the lives and academic careers of its students, the lives of those that it employs and the public in general against any other unruly and unlawful conduct which may arise,” she noted.

Attorney Moemedi Tafa represents Botho while Kago Mokotedi fights on the corner of the students. Justice Tafa will hear the matter on March 31, 2017.
