My Star Top 20 Intensifies

Out of 38 contestants, seven with lower votes had to battle it out to determine who stays. Four contestants, Thuto, Cavin, Sadi and Letlanang were sent packing after failing to impress the panel of three judges.

After the elimination, the show soon kick-started and the remaining 34 had to convince voters once more why they are worth voting for.

Among the performers on the night was Sandy who was singing Lionel Richie’s Say You Say Me. Despite going all out, one of the judges DJ Sid described Sandy’s performance as lousy while Kgomotso advised her to warm and tune the voice next time.

Kennedy, who missed the elimination chop earlier that night, came back stronger by doing Westlife’s I Am already there.

Kennedy showed hunger and determination and the judges were also impressed with the young man’s resurrection. “You have a rich and powerful voice so you should use it,” Kgomotso gushed matter-of-factly.

Olorato also stole the hearts of the audienceby turning a fast song into a beautiful slow ballad. Singing One moment in time by Whitney Houston, Kamogelo truly scaled dizzy heights as one of the top performers on the night. Even hard-to-please Judge DJ Sid was bowled over.

One of the best sirens in the competition, Gofaone also made her presence felt on the stage and showed the audience why she is in the top 34 when she sang Jessie J’s Flashlight. Tshepo belted Westlife’s Tonight and his performance was an indicator why male contestants are tough competitors.

Even though there still is a way to go, Season 11 showed that it has the biggest glut of singers who have potential to go all the way to the finale.
