Jaguars, BDF Through To Knock-Out Final

Against Jaguars, BDF B were favourites going into the match given their experience while Jaguars relied on speed.

The first half was nothing to write home about as the two sides failed to bring out their best. Cheetahs forced Jaguars to make mistakes by playing the ball into their half. Jaguars determination saw them finish the half 8-3 in the lead.

The second half started with Jaguars pushing to increase the score, launching attacks on the Cheetahs. The hard work paid off with their fly half, Thabang Moedi scoring a try in the 53rd minute.

Jaguars were back in the attack again a few minutes later through Stanley Gukwuma, a left centre who made a brilliant run on the right flank. But the BDF defence was alert to clear the danger. The Cheetahs tried to fight back with Thebe Sedimo attempting to break into space, but Maitlamo Motshwene brought him down with a tackle that earned him a caution.

Jaguars coach, Feddy Mutenheri noted that his charges started the match on a slow note. He said maybe that was due to playing in the semi-finals. “I give credit to BDF in the first half. They forced us to make mistakes. We corrected that through the changes we made,” he said.

Mutenheri said they were ready to face any team in the final.

BDF coach, Shine Gabatladiwe said Jaguars capitalised on the mistakes from his players.

“They are a young side. They used that to their advantage and forced us to play their running game. They scored their penalties and caught us through offsides,” he said.
