It was a clash of winners of the competitions at regional level, something that provided for an exhilarating affair, and indeed the show lived up to its promise.

Held under the theme, ‘Creative Industry, a vehicle for development’, this year’s President’s day comedy and drama competitions were nothing short of entertainment and full of drama.

Ngami Artists ultimately became the winners of the drama competition which was a marvel to watch, and had everyone cheering the moment they left the stage. Their performance looked well rehearsed and on point and it did not come as a surprise when they announced the winners.  There were four drama groups from different parts of the country and they all performed the Ntho or The Wound play. Ntho is a play, which was scripted by Bathusi Lesolobe and Clifford Seroke.

Ngami artists from Maun emerged the winners of the drama competitions; with position two going to Gasebokhutlo drama group from Gaborone.

Tselakgopo from Serowe and Seboana Threatre Group from Tsabong got position three and four respectively.

Eight comedians participated in the comedy section. The first position went to Richard Kayoka from Kasane, while Thabang Kgafela from Francistown and Sindimba ‘Yellowbone’ Shitah from Maun got second and third positions respectively. Yellowbone got the crowd in stitches with his jokes, made more humorous by his accent. The moment he got up on stage and introduced himself, he instantly became a fan favourite.

Boniface ‘Roy Sesana’ Phetolo who got position two last year, got position four this time around. Coming fifth was Koketso ‘Skhokhobata’ Koolopile of Lecheng followed by Abel Maradza, Kelebogaone Maboyoboyo and One Kenosi in six, seven and eight positions respectively. It was all joy for Ngami Artists as they won the best Director and Notshi won the Best actress award. Best Actor was won by Oxygen.
