The Zimbabwean joined TAFIC in the off-season on a two-year contract, but despite leading the team to the top of the log, he was suspended following a breakdown in relationship with some players.

Club manager, Carlos Motaung confirmed the latest development yesterday.

“We have reached a decision to part ways with Blessing Moyo,” he said. “Moyo is a coach we hold in high regard and we wish him all the best in his future endeavours.” In the interim, Elias Chinyemba will continue holding fort until the end of the campaign when a decision on the Matjimenyenga top post will be made.

Meanwhile, TAFIC face a tricky derby encounter when they play improving TASC tomorrow.

Matjimenyenga enter the encounter as favourites, but past grisly derby ties are sufficient evidence of a potentially explosive city brawl.

TASC are second from the bottom while their rivals are at the summit of the log table with 20 points separating the two.  Matjimenyenga won the first round fixture 2-0.

TASC, however, have shown they are no pushovers after a spirited performance saw them defeat title-chasing Motlakase Power Dynamos 2-0 last weekend. Any opponent is likely to be caught in the crossfire, as TASC battle to escape relegation and Matjimenyenga will be wary.

Tango Boys coach, Simeon Omphile said they are treating all their encounters with similar respect and their focus is on climbing to a safer position on the log.

“We are finally getting our combinations right and the atmosphere around the squad is perfect. The boys are enjoying themselves and they are looking forward to the next game. Our focus is to climb to position seven sooner.”

Matjimenyenga hit back on speculation that their boat is unsettled when they bounced back from a 1-0 slip at BR Highlanders with maximum points and clean sheets in the following two encounters.

Chinyemba said they remain focused on finishing top and they will not take their opponents lightly.

“They are a team that is improving and we are not taking them lightly. We are focused on consolidating our position at the top.” In other weekend fixtures, on Saturday BR Highlanders welcome GNT, Motlakase are home to Maun Tigers while ECCO City Greens travel to Chobe United.

Satmos host Real Movers in the Selebi-Phikwe derby and in the only Sunday fixture, Morupule Wanderers play Sua Flamingoes.
