Thirty five MPs voted against the motion following the debates while 11 voted for Masisi to vacate the office. Three did not take part in the voting.

Boko had moved a motion which called on the House to pass a motion of no confidence on Masisi who had just reached 100 days in office as the President on Monday after ascending to the presidency on April 1, 2018. 

The motion read that 'This House has lost and accordingly has no confidence in the current President of the Republic, Mokgweetsi Eric Masisi and in the Government of Botswana as presently constituted and calls upon the President to resign his position as President within four days of the passing of this motion'.

Boko said that Masisi is not fit for office of because he is implicated in the embesslment of funds from the National Petroleum Fund (NPF). 

'President Masisi rapes the constitution. His ministers continue to rape the constitution, ' he said. 

Boko said that Masisi is divisive as evidenced by his recent key appointments of senior civil servants, which he says was done on tribal and regional line. 

He further said that the President and his Cabinet have flouted the constitution by bringing Bills to Parliament before they mature or pass the 30 days after being gazetted as stipulated by the Constitution.
