Kwambala promises improved Dablas July

The fifth edition of the Dablas July will start on July 14, 2018 at the Thapama Football Club grounds at Itekeng Ward (Area W) in Francistown.

The event – one of the most anticipated events on the city’s sporting and fun calendar – will see the inclusion of other sporting events like pool, chess, volleyball and scrabble.

Soccer, which is the event’s draw card, will see six teams from Itekeng also known as Dablas slugging it out for the grand prize of P2,700.

There will also be a five-a-side football tournament, kiddies party, jumping castle, face painting and music to make the event a truly social and family occasion.

Addressing the media at Thapama Hotel about the upcoming event, which will take four days during the President’s Day Holidays, Kwambala, who is also the councillor of Itekeng promised an action-filled event.

He said that Dablas July is growing in leaps and bounds since its humble beginnings five years ago.

Kwambala added that one of the aims of the event is to help local businesses –small, medium and large enterprises – in Itekeng and Francistown to grow.

He explained that the tourney would give small entrepreneurs in Itekeng and Francistown the opportunity to sell their products to a larger market.

“We appeal to more sponsors to come on board in order to grow this event. We appreciate any kind of help as long as it will make the event better. In life there is no small or big donation,” an optimistic Kwambala said.

An elated Kwambala said that since the event started it has not been affected by social ills that normally happen during other social occasions like music festivals.

“Security will be tight. People should feel free to attend the event in large numbers. We expect to attract somewhere between 15,000 and 20,000 fans throughout the event,” Kwambala said, reiterating that the business industry in the city will benefit handsomely from the event.

The disc jockeys (DJs) and artists representatives DJ Bunz and MC Maswe told members of the media that since the inception of the event they have been offering their services for free because the event helps to empower locals, especially the youth to reach their full potential in various fields.

Most local DJs and artists in Francistown have promised to perform at the event for free.
