Kavindama pursues his photography dream

Speaking to Arts & Culture, Kavindama who hails from Kauxwi, a small village located in the North-West of Botswana, said he is now a professional photographer and brand owner of Wasabi Creatives.  He also said that he takes pride in capturing breathtaking portraits.

“Wasabi is my middle name, which in my native language, Hambukushu means to achieve artistic greatness,” he added.

Kavindama, who is currently doing Bachelor’s Degree in Logistics and Supply Chain Management at the University of Botswana, said that they had national geographic magazines in their house and he was always intrigued by the pictures he found inside.

He describes himself as a creative person and believes that he has found a beautiful form of expression as an artist.

Talking more about his recently established journey, he said that he started being a professional photographer two years ago after he brought his first professional camera and other equipment.  “I have worked with a lot of photographers and film makers, collaborated with the likes of Gonna Elvis and shot a film project with Leruri Marthias. I have also photographed BW celebrities like Isaac Makwala, Sasa Klaas and Juju Vine,” he said.

He highlighted that he conducts a lot of research before he begins to work on his projects and makes sure that he captures timeless pictures. The passion-driven artist said that his brand has grown rapidly around the city and now he has a large following on social media platforms.  “I am always receiving positive feedback on my work from my clients and other professional photographers,” he stated.

He added that he is planning to work on a lot of conceptual projects and also looks forward to collaborate with other creative photographers in Botswana. He aspires to travel the world capturing portraits of different cultures.
