An EGM is usually called on short notice and deals with an urgent matter. COSBOTS were forced to hold this EGM after a pile of pressure from concerned artists led by veteran musicians, Alfredo Mos and Phempheretlhe Bafana Pheto. The concerned artists served the board with papers and requested them to leave the office with immediate effect.

In an interview with Showbiz, COSBOTS communications manager Seeletso Lekgaba said they have decided to hold the meeting on March 18 in order to solve the unresolved issues between the organisation and their members.

When Showbiz asked why they have not vacated the office despite their term being over, Lekgaba said the board members could not just leave the office before new members are voted into office.

“For now they will hold on to their positions until a proper voting is done,” she said. Lekgaba added that it is at the EGM where they will decide whether to conduct elections or postpone the voting to the upcoming Annual General Meeting (AGM).

Lekgaba said they have communicated with all their members and the latter is aware of the upcoming EGM. “Everyone of our members is welcome, they have to be there,” she highlighted. Lekgaba said they would have liked everyone to be there but some will not make it due to different reasons.

The representative of the concerned artists, Alfredo Mos said they are aware of the meeting because they are the ones who called it. “We have been fighting for this meeting to be held because of the issues we raised before and they haven’t been solved,” he said.

He said it was about time the EGM was held because the board members have refused to step down despite their term having ended on November 2 last year. Afredo Mos said they could not let the organisation to run without proper leadership.
