Man rapes granny, forces her to bath

Mahalapye Police Station Commander, Superitendent Isaac Mamadi, said the matter was reported to them early Friday but it happened on Thursday night.

“The woman was sleeping with her sister whom she stays with at the cattle post when the incident occurred. She said a young boy whom she couldn’t identify well because of trauma forcibly entered their house and called her by name,” he said.

He said the alleged rapist forcibly ordered the victim to take off her clothes so that he could have sexual intercourse with her. The rape, according to Mamadi lasted the whole night.

The police boss further stated that in her statement, after the rapist was satisfied, he forced her to bath her private parts, which she did, in front of the young man.“The old woman said no one came to their rescue even though they (she and her sister) tried to shout for help,” he said.

According to Mamadi three suspects of ages  ranging between 25 and 24 are being questioned regarding the incident.

In a related matter, Mamadi said they are investigating a case in which a 21-year-old woman was gang-raped by three men on her way home from Ozone night club in Mahalapye on Friday night.

He said the matter was reported to them the same night and they were told that the woman was in the company of her boyfriend.

“According to the victim, when the gang attacked them, the boyfriend ran away leaving her behind. The three men then dragged the woman to a nearby abandoned house and gang-raped her interchangably,” he said.

He further said they have not yet arrested anyone in connection with the incident, as the woman is also clueless because it was dark.

However, Mamadi said their investigations are still ongoing in the matter. He urged women to always walk in groups so that when they are attacked they can help each other.

He also encouraged women to avoid staying alone especially at places like cattle posts where they can easily be attacked.

Mamadi said they are worried by rape cases, which are rampant in their policing area. He said most rape perpetrators are youth.
