Pitsane Mourn Accident Victims

Hundreds of mourners could not hold back tears in an emotional farewell of a mother and her two sons who were laid to rest concurrently, following a freak head-on collision on February 21.

Thirty four-year-old Freedah Pelo and her elder son, six year-old Omogolo Pelo Junior alongside his two-year-old younger brother, Sbusizo Edward Junior lost their lives on the fateful day whilst travelling from Pitsane to Gaborone via the alternative Ntlhantlhe-Mogobane route.

According to family spokesperson, Peter Mpete the three could not make it after the car they were travelling in, a Honda Fiat model, collided head-on with a truck over a bridge between Ntlhantlhe and Mogobane villages.

“It is such a challenging time for our family, they could not make it.

We lost such a loving mother, wife and a sister. What we have learnt up to this point is that the family was driving from Pitsane to Gaborone where they were rushing the other kid to hospital for urgent medical attention and along the way, they collided with an oncoming truck over a bridge in Mogobane and they sustained injuries. That’s how they lost their lives,” Mpete said.

Mpete said the family lost a woman who was not only teacher but also a counsellor.

“We lost brilliant boys, their mother was not only a school teacher, but she was also a counsellor who enjoyed giving people fruitful advice and she was even professionally qualified in guidance and counselling,” he said.

Still in Pitsane, Gunners chairman, Phenyo Gothaang was also laid to rest.

Different speakers described Gothaang as a multi-talented man who took obstacles head-on.

Similarly, Gothaang lost his life in a fatal accident along Mogobane-Ntlhantlhe road on February 25 following a collision with a Government vehicle.
