He told Business Monitor that some of the metal structures he makes include carports, metal gates, window frames, door frames to mention but a few.

Tainton said he started his business 10 years ago and aims to open a bigger workshop in a few years to come. He said he grew up aspiring to be a welder, but decided to boost his career by turning his skills into art.

“As a welder I saw the potential in me to create enterprising sculptures using my techniques and artistry gained from my family,” he said.

The artist added that he acquired his skills through learning from his late grandfather, brother and father who are experts in medal welding.

He said the welding skills he acquired from the Tonota Vocational Training Centre also played a major role in building his empire.  He further said he grew up with the spirit and devotion to welding as part of his heritage and keeping the generational business alive.

He said as a breadwinner his business comes in handy as it sustains his family’s needs and wants.  The entrepreneur said the business is currently operating at home because of shortage of workshops and plots in the village.

Tainton said the business has been profitable and attracts customers especially from hospitality operators such as hotels. He disclosed that they do not have many competitors which has given them an opportunity to attract many consumers.

The entrepreneur said they hire three or more temporary employees on different occasions based on the amount of work that needs to be done.
