Botswana prepares to host CUCSA meeting

The meeting will be attended by the presidents, secretary generals and student representatives of members of tertiary student sport associations and the 10 member states being Angola, Botswana, Malawi, Lesotho, Malawi, Mozambique, Zambia, Zimbabwe, South Africa and Swaziland.

BOTESSA public relations officer, Duncan Sekgabo said the president, secretary general and treasurer will present reports at the meeting.

The 2018 CUCSA games host  will be revealed at the meeting, as Angola, the initial hosts, have pulled out. “The 2018 CUCSA games were to be held in Angola so it seems like that will fail because it is believed that Angola is a bit far from the other nine countries,” he said.

Sekgabo said during games held in Zimbabwe in 2015, Angola came with fewer athletics because of its distance from other countries. He said the country cited the cost in terms of transport, food and accommodation.

Sekgabo said it would be best to reduce the cost of nine other countries in order to increase the number of participants, and ultimately increase the quality of the competition.

“It is believed more students should participate in these games for the growth of the association,” he said.
