There have been widespread reports that the team’s players face a salary reduction, but Shah was quick to dismiss the speculation in an interview yesterday.

“It is not true. Everything is going on smoothly. All the contracted players are paid accordingly. I am getting upset with the unscrupulous behaviour of people spreading these reports (that there is a salary cut),” Shah said.

He said all the players are happy, and the club has just emerged from a successful season where they won a league and cup double, as well as progressing to the group stages of the CAF Champions League for the first time in the country’s history.

There has been reported discontent over coach Nikola Kavazovic’s involvement in the players’ contract issues. But Shah maintains there is nothing of that sort, with the coach not involved in contractual issues. Matters came to a boil when Kavazovic and winger, Lemponye Tshireletso were involved in a training ground bust-up in June.

However, the club, although admitting the incident, later argued the issue had been blown out of proportion and the two had kissed and made-up.

Despite the reported upheavals, Rollers has remained a cut above the rest, winning silverware and is the destination of choice for most local players.

The club is believed to be the highest paying in the local league, amid financial challenges facing the majority of the 16 BTC Premiership sides.
