This did not please Boko; “they chose to use their numbers to deny Batswana what they want. They have created a mess, we are trying to help them clean it, but for reasons best known to them they chose to use their numbers to deny Batswana what they want,” he said.

“When something is good it should be accepted regardless of its origins, the origins cannot change value of the goodness,” he said.

Boko said what the BDP MPs did is a cancerous disease that will eat them up as they do not want to do what is right for Batswana. Boko said they would not stop seeking righteousness.  He however would not state how he would proceed on the matter choosing not to share his plans.

Boko’s motion called for adjournment – definite matter of urgent public importance. “That Parliament resolves to amend Section 4 of the Court of Appeal  (CoA) Act by providing that the CoA shall in addition to the judges provided for in the Constitution, consist of not more than 15 Justices of Appeal who shall be citizens of Botswana and who shall be appointed pursuant to an open transparent and objective process involving public advertisements of vacancies and public hearings in respect of all short listed applicants.”

After Boko briefly delivered his motion, it was supported by four MPs before the Speaker Gladys Kokorwe called for a vote, which led to division.

At this point, opposition MPs started complaining that Kokorwe did not follow the standing orders saying the motion was automatically to be debated after four supporters.

However, Kokorwe said that was not enough and the MPs voted with only 12 votes for the motion to continue but 22 BDP members ensured that President Khama enjoys his rights to appoint CoA justices.

Protests by opposition MPs did not bear any fruit. Speaking after the Parliament session, Boko said he was disappointed that the BDP MPs chose to ignore what Batswana wants.
