Prisons XI took the lead but allowed Sharps to come back. The home side took the lead in the 10th minute through Gaolebale Tshelametse who stepped forward and scored a penalty following Sharps goalkeeper’s mistake. However 11 minutes later, Sharps equalised through their captain, Monageng Thaele from a free-kick. The game shifted from one side to the other, but no team took the responsibility to wrap it up before halftime.

Fifteen minutes into the second half, Prisons XI again went ahead, this time through Tumo Lebanna. A high ball was delivered into the box and Lebanna rose high and headed home. However, Sharps once again came back in the 71st minute.

A good ball was sent into the box and a scramble ensued. With the goalkeeper seemingly beaten, Prisons XI’s Condry Masire was forced to parry the ball away with his hands. He received his marching orders and conceded a penalty, leaving Prisons XI with 10 men on the field. Moemedi Moatlhaping stepped forward and converted to make it 2-2. With a man down, Prisons never looked like they were limping and created chances going forward and managed to hold on for a point against the pace setters.

Speaking to Sport Monitor after the game, Prisons XI coach, Philemon Makhwengwe said they failed to utilise the chances they created. He said his team is trying to play cohesive football and expressed hope that it will get there. Sharps assistant coach, Mlungisi Kopi said if they had taken chances in the first half, it would have been a different story. He added that they had to change plans after their winger, Langa Mabuli was ruled out of the match on the same day through an injury.
