Indeed she did not disappoint when she finally performed before a capacity crowd at Botswanacraft.

At 53, the woman who earned the Princess of Africa title showed that age is nothing but just a number with energetic moves on Friday, which left many of the revellers in awe and asking for more.

Yvonne Chaka Chaka got up on stage to a resounding applause and cheers befitting her status, and started by performing some of her unpopular songs.

At that time, local group Brown Sugar who were performing for the first time in almost two decades, had already warmed up the stage. Although, they were not the headliners, Brown Sugar also wanted to leave a mark and be remembered.

She started off slowly, performing the not so popular songs, which one would have felt it would not go well with the revellers. However, they kept screaming and dancing along.

She picked rhythm and increased tempo as the show went on and started playing some of her famous songs such as Motherland, Caught Breaking The Law, Umqombothi and Thank you Mr. DJ much to the delight of her fans who erupted and sang along.

The crowd, who seemed to strike a balance between the youth and the elderly, related very well with the music.

Chaka Chaka had two youthful dancers, but at times when she danced, she looked the same age with them. Although there were fans who were unhappy that the Umqombothi hitmaker did not perform live, she made it up with her energy. Fans could not get enough of her, and when she left the stage, they were still asking for more.

However, for many of the attendants, it was a memorable night with the legendary who popularised disco during the apartheid era.
