Following the gruesome murder of three family members in Molepolole, within two weeks, four suspects, including the deceased couple’s son, were arrested.

The quartet, Tebogo Ramantosha 27, Mmoloki Tlhaelo37, Poloko Segwagwa 27 and Cornelious Saidoo 28 were recently arraigned before Molepolole Magistrate Court facing three counts of murder. The police also managed to retrieve the deceased’s television with investigations still ongoing to establish what really transpired that fateful day.

As the BPS was celebrating 134 years of existence on Saturday, there is a clear sign that the police have improved their investigations methods. Today when something happens, especially in murder cases, arrests of suspect are speedily. In the past criminals used to keep the police on their toes with cases dragging for years and most of them ending up unresolved but that seem to be the thing for the past. The police do not only arrest suspects they also confiscate stolen properties or goods, which clearly shows that there has been improvement in the police work.

As to how they have been conducting their investigations one can confidently say it will not take them a long time for them to establish what really transpired as well as what influenced the suspects’ horrific acts. On an annual basis the BPS holds senior officers’ conference meant to come up with resolutions towards the improvement of their policing strategies and that seem to be bearing fruits. Mid June police also made a breakthrough within few days and arrested suspects in another murder case in which a 24-year-old woman of Sesung village was discovered dead, naked in the bush at Jwaneng.

The quartet currently in custody, Boemo Baitsi 24, Tshepo Molwalefi 29, Pako Segogwane 30 and Thuto Sungwasungwane 24 were dragged before Jwaneng Magistrate Court facing a murder charge. Back in April another 32-year-old woman of Mahalapye village was discovered dumped in a dense bush half naked at Ledumadumane location in Mogoditshane and it did not took much longer period of time for the police to arrest the suspect in the matter currently in custody facing a murder charge. One can say whatever that the BPS investigating teams are doing they should hold on to it.

Members of the public across media platforms cannot stop talking as well as applauding them for their positive response to arrests something, which clearly shows that police’s efforts are visible, and in a way positive. Not only are the police doing a good job in murder cases they also make positive arrests across all criminal activities like robbery, rape, house breaking, burglary to mention but a few.

Recently, the director of crime intelligence Nunu Lesetedi said one of their mandates is to protect people and their properties and as such they will always make sure that criminals are brought to book.

“We have improved our surveillance and detection methods something that seem to be helpful,” Lesetedi said.
