Elizabeth Bonolo Kerekang (29) was allegedly murdered by her boyfriend Simon Badisa Kgowe (38), on July 30, 2018 at Block 3 location in Gaborone. Kerekang’s headless body was discovered by a passerby at Maratanang ward in Tlokweng.

Over the weekend, the Kerekang family went ahead and laid their daughter’s headless body to rest in Gaborone. The funeral was conducted at the Kerekang’s yard in Block 7 location in Gaborone where the deceased was also residing.

The burial of the headless body happened on the seventh day since the police have been having sleepless nights searching for Kerekang’s head to no avail. According to the deputy public relations officer of the Botswana Police Service (BPS), senior superintendent Near Bagali said whilst still hunting for the deceased’s head, they decided to handover the headless body to the family on Friday, who conducted its burial the following day.

“Investigations into the matter are ongoing and we are still searching for the deceased’s missing head,” Bagali said. Kgowe was arraigned at Extension II Magistrate Court facing a single count of murder last Thursday.

Then, appearing before Magistrate Batho Kgwerethwe inspector Joseph Kehakae of BPS representing state prosecution revealed that through their investigations they have established that there are two more suspects linked to the offense who are still at large.

“Our investigating team is busy searching for deceased’s head as well as to locate the two suspects.

We fear that if the issue of Kgowe’s bail can be dealt with and possibly be granted bail he might interfere with our investigations.

It can possibly delay our efforts to find the deceased’s missing head as well as to locate the suspects,” said Kehakae.
