Young goalkeeper, Keeagile Kgosipula got the nod with Mwampule Masule on the sidelines. Masule was ruled out of the tie two days before the match with a foot injury.

He has been Rollers’ first choice since Dambe picked up an injury last year. Rollers’ spokesperson, Bafana Pheto yesterday said Dambe was initially scheduled to go for surgery but the club sought a second opinion from another doctor.

He said the doctor suggested that he give him some medication to see if the injury cannot heal without surgery. The injury healed and he returned to training last week.

Contrary to earlier fears that they could face a goalkeeping crisis with the busy schedule on the way, it has been confirmed that Masule’s injury is not long term.

He is expected to be out for just four weeks after being diagnosed with a fractured foot. Rollers coach, Teenage Mpote, after their game against CNaPS, said Masule actually picked up the injury in the 2-0 victory over Gaborone United (GU).

He said no one, including the player, was aware of the injury until two days before their second leg match against CNaPS. “After GU game, he trained with the rest of the squad without feeling anything.

We even went to Madagascar where he played the entire match and back. We rested on Monday and resumed training on Tuesday. He only felt the pain on that day,” Mpote said. He said such injuries are usually not noticeable until such time when players are doing intensive training.

Meanwhile, Pheto said their winger, Galagwe Moyana’s operation was successful. Galagwe has been struggling with a knee injury and was ruled out for the rest of the season.  Pheto said Galagwe arrived this week from South Africa where an operation was performed.

He is expected to return to South Africa for assessment.
