“We find our darts game in a very precarious state at the moment and we have a great deal to do, to revive the game,” Galeboe said.

“My focus is to geographically expand our coverage beyond the traditional north and south league to other far places in the country and simplify our league to improve participation and competition as well as attract sponsorships.” New public relations officer, Neo Badubi shared the same views as his president.

He said they have been running without a sponsor since a ban on alcohol related sponsorships from sport over a decade ago.

He said last year the northern league was not played because of lack of funds.

“First we must vigorously look for a sponsor. We have hit a slump since the time we lost the Hansa Darts sponsorship due to an alcohol ban on sports but for the love of the game our teams have been resolute and our players kept active.

“Our northern league suffered the most and it hit a blackout last year. We have come up with a simplified method in our structures this time around to keep it afloat while we are looking for sponsors just so that the league can be played.”

He said the number of youths in the game has steadily grown over the years and that shows potential of growth.

“There is great potential in the country. Young players show a great interest in the sport and they have put the country in the map in continental competitions. Botswana is the current region five youth champions and we have won the championship back to back four times and we are confident of defending our championship in Lesotho this year,” he said.

At the AGM, Pelothomogi Malefo was elected vice president. Masego Mothudi was elected the treasurer, with Mothusi Moakofi (secretary-general), Tshaba Moilwa, the new tournament director, also coming in. Machena Robert (youth coordinator) and Goodwin Otumiseng (recoding secretary) are the only two who retained their positions from the previous committee.
